Ryan - a steady wedding guest

Last weekend we attended a friend's wedding in Muar. Ryan came with us. Not only was he quite a hit with some of the ladies there, he was also quite the steady guest! I expected him to cry or show some stress over the loud toasting sessions, but he was all calm and steady, no sweat!

Here are some of his pictures taken by a professional mummy with her professional camera (not me!).

Coke for Ryan

While waiting at the restaurant for our food to be served, Ryan sat there looking bored. We figured before he started to fuss about, we better find a way to keep him entertained.

He started off quite inquisitive in the restaurant

He paid us some attention as we shot pictures of him

He would even pose a little for a good shot (vain pot!)

Then he started to lose interest in all that's around

Can't see anything interesting going on...

You can see he's got total boredom written all over his face

We decided to introduce something new to him. Look how delighted he is!

The Coke is not for him to taste, but just to feel the coldness of the glass

It sure is cold!

He showed some funny expression at the cold sensation

Despite the cold, he wanted to touch the glass again

This time it made him shiver

Think he's got the hang of it...he wanted more of the cold glass

This time he nearly got his fingers dipped in

We decided to take it away now, he's had quite a bit of cold fingers already

Now he seemed bored all over again, doesn't he?

I can feed myself...

We've been trying to get Ryan to hold his own bottle. I would say it wasn't hard at all. He wouldn't voluntarily do it, though. We start off with us holding the bottle and then guiding his little hands to hold it instead. But he's quite lazy at holding it up on his own. If any at any time the bottle tilts, we would help to adjust it and the moment we touch that bottle, he would let go!

Anyway, we got him to hold it for as long as we can...well long enough to get a few shots =)

More photos of Ryan

Grandma says his blog hasn't been updated for a long while...the truth is that I haven't picked up the camera and shoot away. However, I do have photos of him captured from the phone.

Here are some of his "best shots"....

Ryan fast asleep in his comfy car seat. Is he smiling in his dreams?

Ryan loves being topless! And he's saying his favourite word of the moment which is "Woo"!

Ryan sits in a baby chair and wonders when he can have a taste of "adult" food!

"I want food now!!!"

Ryan tries on a pair of Crocs. Didn't seem to like it, neither did we.

8 months old already!

Ryan is now 8 months old. What's he doing now as a 8-month old? Let's see...

He sits in his high chair and eats his porridge. He inspires those who feed him by really enjoying his food and going "Amm...mmm". Won't you be happy to feed him as much as he wants?

He's crawling just a little bit. Sometimes he still falls over. Not quite steady yet but he's determined to be a crawler anyhow!

Other than human being his mode of mobility by carrying him about, he now has found a trusted friend to "transport" him about. He's finally met his first walker and he loves gliding about from one end to another in the living room. He must feel free like a bird.

He's come a long way from the newborn he was...and it's been a lot of fun and satisfaction watching his growth and every little progress.

Meanwhile, here are some photos of him when we visited JB some weeks back.

Ryan now has a high chair

Since we're feeding Ryan solids, it's time to get that high chair for him. He's been sitting on baby chairs in restaurants and I think he can manage it quite well. So today we went to look for one. We put him in it to try it out and everyone seems happy with the chair, from baby to grandma!

We didn't even try any other chairs, just that one. It meets all our needs and more. It's got wheelers so we get to move him around easily, the height of the chair is adjustable, the seat is sufficiently cushioned, the fabric of the seat is easily cleanable and the table/tray is detachable, making it easy to clean up. What's not to like about it? And look how Ryan made himself comfortable in it...

Ryan celebrates daddy's birthday

Soon after enjoying mummy's birthday, it's time for daddy's. We bought a durian cheesecake for the birthday. It's very rich and smells really strongly of fresh durian. When we sat Ryan in the car and the cake was just next to him, the poor little boy immediately vomited! While we thought it smelled delicious, it must've been real stinky for the little one.

This picture is a little blur, but see the worried look on Ryan's face?

There was no birthday song by the waiters this time. We didn't want a crying Ryan in the midst of the song, again! :)

Ryan celebrates mummy's birthday

This morning I woke up to a smiling Ryan. Maybe it was his way to wish me Happy Birthday?

We went for a simple family dinner to celebrate. The highlight for the little boy was when the waiters and waitresses brought out the birthday cake and lit the candles. He seemed to like the sight of it. Then the gathered waiters sang a lively tune of Happy Birthday rather loudly. I think Ryan got scared; he burst into tears! Haha, the poor boy. But it didn't take long to pacify him.

After I cut the cake, I put a tiny bit of sponge cake into his eager mouth and he loved it! His facial expression was priceless! It's too bad we didn't get a shot of him just then. He wanted more but we didn't feed him anymore.

It's been a great birthday with Ryan there with us.... :)

Ryan wants to look at the menu too!

"Yum-yum...everything looks so delicious. When am I gonna have enough teeth to chew on them?"

Mummy with The Prince

See how excited Ryan looked on at the cake and candles?

And now you see a crying Ryan...
